North Idaho has had 3 confirmed cases of Measles, 2 of which were in Bonner County.
Here is what you need to know.
Measles often begins with fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes before a rash appears.
If someone in your household shows these symptoms:
- Keep them away from family members who are not sick.
- Everyone in the home should stay inside to avoid spreading measles to neighbors or the community.
- Call our office right away to report the illness so we can give you specific instructions on what to do next.
We will be screening patients by phone, and most “sick” visits will begin as a video appointment. Patients are asked to conduct their video visit from the parking lot. This allows our nurse to assess the situation and determine the next step, whether the patient can safely be brought into the office or if testing should be performed on-site.
When to go directly to the Emergency Room!
If the sick person’s condition quickly worsens, or if they develop any of the symptoms listed below, take them to the hospital emergency department right away. Do not wait.

Have someone call before you arrive. Let the hospital know a person with measles is coming.
